Questions? support@tillee.io

Privacy and security

Answered plainly

Everything people ask us about what happens to their information, and what we do to protect it.

Privacy

What does Tillee collect?

Your name and email on the waitlist, and that is the whole form. After that, only what you give it: what you tell us about your household and your job, last year's return if you upload it, your paystubs, and any accounts you connect.

What do you do with it?

We estimate where your taxes are headed, show what is driving it, and answer the questions you ask using your own numbers. That is decision support, not tax advice.

Do you sell it?

No. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. We advertise Tillee, but nothing you give us is used to target ads at you or anyone else. There is no second business here.

What about cookies?

Only what it takes to run the site: one cookie so we can count visits and sign-ups, and, if you arrive from a Google or Meta ad, their tag so the ad can be counted. Nothing is sold or shared beyond that, and outside the United States we set no cookies at all. You can turn off Google's ad cookies at adssettings.google.com and Meta's at facebook.com/ads/preferences.

How long do you keep it, and how do I delete it?

While your account is open. Disconnect an account, remove a document, or delete the account and it goes; email support@tillee.io and we will do it, or send you a copy of what we hold.

Security

Is my information encrypted?

Yes, both ways. Every connection to Tillee runs over HTTPS, and your documents and tax data are encrypted where they are stored, not only while they move.

Can Tillee move money, or see my bank password?

Neither. Connections are read-only: Tillee sees balances and transactions and nothing else. You enter your bank password with our connection provider, never with us. What we hold is a token, and disconnecting revokes it.

How do I know an email is really from you?

Tillee never asks for a password, for your full Social Security number, or for a payment to see your own estimate. If a message does, it is not us. Forward it to support@tillee.io and do not click anything in it.

I found a security problem. Who do I tell?

Email support@tillee.io with enough detail to reproduce it.

If you take a refund advance

This part only applies if you ask for an advance. If you never do, none of it happens.

If I take a refund advance, who sees my information?

This only applies if you ask for one. Tillee is not a bank; the loan is made by our lending partner, and they receive what the decision needs: your identity details, the refund Tillee projected, and information from the accounts you connected. They keep their own record of a loan you took, and we cannot delete their copy. A Tillee Card is a prepaid debit card issued by their issuing bank.

Does checking my refund hurt my credit?

No. Checking never files a hard credit inquiry. If you go on to apply, our lending partner may run a soft check, and you are told before that happens.
